A Case of Examination Anxiety

ree

It’s that time of the year, when the students have to take their exams.

I do feel sorry to see the children’s plight and wonder at the pointlessness of the system which puts so much stress on them.

A young boy saw me a week ago. He looked worn out, serious and extremely stressed .

His mother was very worried, since his Prelims were just a week away and he was in a bad state. She said that he had lot of work to do in the last few weeks. He had been stretching himself, He would sleep by 2 am and wake up at 6 for school. There were submissions to be made, tests in classes, then the prelims approaching, he had been studying for long hours. He has lost his appetite. “I don't feel like eating, don't you understand” snapped the boy. He was rather exasperated. I told the mother to step out of the cabin and spoke to him. “ I’m very tired, mentally. I feel i have studied so much, my head feels full, and i am no able to do any more. As the exams are approaching, I feel all the more anxious. Yesterday there was a test in my classes and felt something strange , I just sat there. I could not write. I froze. After that when my friends were discussing the answers I felt horrible. I knew all the answers. But could not write. I fear what if something like this happens during my Prelims.”

In homoeopathy we get to the root cause of the problem and give medicines that correct this root cause. In such cases, counselling also helps, but only counselling does not give very fast results. But when combined with homoeopathic medicine, the results are fast.

Here we needed to work fast since his exams were around the corner. I gave him a homoeopathic medicine called Kali Phos, which is indicated to calm he nerves. His brain was in a state of over work and hence had shut down.

I also continued to give him KALI PHOS 6X, which is a brain tonic which helps in alertness and relieving stress caused by staying awake for long periods of time and over dressing the mental faculties.

The result was very relieving. Last week his exams had started and he was very relaxed. He was sleeping well, was calmer and could study well, his mother called me to report. I met him today morning when I was going for my walk and his smiling face told me he was well.
